Man Utd winger Amad has spoken about the strong bond he has formed with Yan Diomande whilst he has been at the African Cup of Nations with the Ivory Coast
The RB Leipzig star has been linked with a summer transfer to Old Trafford in recent days, and speaking about his international teammate, Amad said they complement each other well:
“Everyone tries to contribute to the team, and then we have this understanding on the pitch. We’re also very close off the pitch, so that makes things easier on the pitch. And we’re selfless: we don’t play for ourselves, nobody tries to be man of the match.”
“If I have the opportunity to pass to him, I pass to him; if he has the opportunity to pass to me, he passes to me. That’s what a great nation, a great team, is all about. You have to move forward together to win this competition.”
“It’s not enough to have one player; you need eleven on the pitch, and that’s what we’re trying to do. Yan is a very good player, everyone knows that.”
Could Diomande be on his way to Old Trafford?
United are by no means the 19-year-old’s only suitor. Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have been mentioned as potential competitors.
Other Premier League teans have also reportedly been keeping tabs on Diomande’s progress, with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea having sent scouts to see him in action this season.
The Man Utd target won’t be available on the cheap
In addition to the competition for his services, RB Leipzig are not expected to let him go without a fight either.
The Bundesliga side only paid €20m (£17.4m) to snap him up from Leganes last summer, and it has been suggested that they may look to offload him for a fee as high as €100m (£87m) in the future.
