Man U News would like to wish Man United fans a happy festive period after a much-improved start to the season compared to last year.
Heading into the season, Man United fans won’t have been expecting much, as they had such a poor season under Ruben Amorim last year. However, things seem to have improved under the former Sporting CP manager, and the tide could finally be turning at Old Trafford after so many years of disappointment.
However, it should be a very happy Christmas for United fans despite their most recent loss to Aston Villa, as the Red Devils are in contention for a top-six place in the Premier League, after finishing 15th last season under Amorim.
Man United’s season so far
The first game of the season was a positive for United. They lost to Arsenal, but looked the better team, leading many to believe they had improved. The likes of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha have been excellent signings, and Amorim will hope they can continue to perform.
In October, Amorim was under a lot of pressure, as United’s form dwindled. However, they came out of the lull, and were able to win three games in a row. They extended their unbeaten run to five games in a row.
In terms of the rest of the season, Man United will hope they can keep building on their momentum, and climb consistently into the top six to get back where they belong in the European competitions.
Will Man United do much in the transfer window?
Another thing that the Christmas period brings, is ramped up transfer rumours, as Man United prepare to enter the January window, hoping to strengthen their squad even more. It does look as though there could be some movement at United with regards to transfers, with the biggest name involved being Antoine Semenyo.
The Bournemouth star has been linked with Man United, Liverpool, Man City and Arsenal to name a few, and seeing as he will have a £65m release clause at the start of January, it could be time for him to make a big step to join someone like United, although Liverpool are the favourites to sign him at the moment.
United are also expected to make a move to sign a midfielder, as they have been linked to the likes of Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton. But, they could all be tough deals to complete in January.
Even so, everyone at Man U News would like to wish Man United fans a very happy holidays, and let’s hope that Amorim’s side can cement their place in the top six.
