Man Utd have been given the chance to sign Atletico Madrid’s Alexander Sorloth and Juventus’s Jonathan David, according to reports.
TEAMtalk claim that the two forwards have been “offered” to the Red Devils via intermediaries, with the Manchester club looking to replace Joshua Zirkzee.
Both Sorloth and David led the line for their respective countries at the World Cup. The former helped Norway reach the quarter-finals, while the latter started every match as Canada made it to the last 16.
However, the two players are deemed expendable by their current teams. Even if Julian Alvarez stays at Atletico, the Spanish club are said to be looking to replace Sorloth, with Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus among their targets.
David, meanwhile, struggled for form during his first year at Juve, and he was an unused substitute in the Serie A side’s 1-0 win over Frosinone last weekend.
Sorloth is seen as the likeliest target
It is believed that United want a player who can fill in for Benjamin Sesko when the Slovenian international is not available.
They would like someone with a similar profile, and Sorloth’s aerial ability and physicality make him a decent fit, although the key difference between him and Sesko is that the Norwegian lacks pace.

What is the latest on Zirkzee’s Man Utd exit?
The Dutchman has opened the door to joining Fiorentina, with the Italian club offering a loan with an option to buy.
On paper, the proposal doesn’t seem that attractive, but the Viola are reportedly prepared to pay a €5m (£4.3m) loan fee. That may sway Director of Football Jason Wilcox into sanctioning the deal.
However, it’s more than likely that Zirkzee’s departure will only get the green light if United find a replacement first, and intermediaries appear to be falling over themselves to offer possible solutions.
